Tomorrow is Never Promised Erik Otto's work is an observation of the human experience that is continually informed by the pressures and demands of the outside world. Otto creates his art to openly engage the viewer by communicating the shared struggle we all encounter to connect our awakened state to our desires found within. In constructing his pieces with found and salvaged materials, he expresses the personal satisfaction he receives from discovering use out of the “unusable”. In his new exhibition, Tomorrow is Never Promised, the artist illustrates the themes of living in the present, times of solitude and, self-fulfillment versus self-destruction. The works will also depict the transient nature of time and how it dictates the uncertainty of life. The pieces for the exhibition are composed of house paint, spray paint, pencil, collage and screen print on recycled canvas or panel framed in reclaimed fence wood. All of the material for the show is sourced from Recology San Francisco as well as the "free" section on Craigslist.org.
